Halloween

We got to spend a lot of time at Jason's house (my brother-in-law). Jason spends at least a month or so creating the most amazing decorations. This year he made a Pirates of the Caribbean scene...it had a ship that looked like it had wrecked into his house with a skeleton steering an automated wheel. The Chantry have a family party at his house. We usually eat dinner and have all kinds of Halloween treats then after that the kids get to play different games like bobbing for apples, bean bag pumpkin toss, bowling, etc. We end it by watching some Halloween movie out in his back yard (this year it was Ghost Busters). He sets a projector up and we take lawn chairs, lots of blankets and set up a fire pit. It's always a blast and I don't know of anyone who celebrates Halloween with more pizazz the Jason!

Here's Chloe posing with the pumpkin I carved...I LOVE this picture! Scott did a great job with catching a great smile!

Halloween is much more fun when you get to dress up someone else! I had such a fun time picking out Chloe's costume and it was so much fun showing her off! She is such a cutie!

The Happenings of the Chantry Family

It's been so long since I've actually wrote anything, I figured it was about time. Around the beginning of this year we decided to buy a house. So, we started the process (I didn't realize how much of a process it was going to be). We found one that we were particularly interested in April or May it was roomy, had a basement and was in an area we really liked so we put an offer on it. It took a few months but finally in mid July after go back and forth with the owner on the price and such, we finally got what we wanted. Right away we started the next process....remodeling. We spent the next month removing wallpaper, tearing up carpet, refinishing the floors, painting, etc., etc. We were so blessed to have the help of our family in getting it ready to move into (which things would have taken so much longer without). We moved in the day before our 2nd anniversary and worked on unpacking and getting all the little things we needed to make our house our own. We are far from being done with remodeling but we are happy with what we have done so far. I hope to get pictures soon so you can see what it looks like, I just figured if I kept waiting it would be next year before I made any real updates :).

Chloe has been doing great! She is now 4 1/2 months now and growing so fast. At her four month check up she weighed almost 14 lbs and is 25 in. long. She has rolled over from belly to back and back to belly but she'll only does that for dad:). She is a wonderful sleeper (once she falls asleep)...she has been sleeping through the night for over a month and always wakes up so happy! She is such a patient girl (unless she is hungry) and loves playing with her toys. We love how she holds some toys with her feet and than bats at it with her hands.

Scott has been very busy this semester and it's been crazy with so much to do around the house. There's always a homework assignment or something around the house that needs to be taken care of as quickly as possible. We are trying to get the house baby proofed before Chloe starts crawling. It's a little stressful and both Scott and I feel like we are in need of a nice break so Scott is going take two days off of work during fall break so we can have some real relax time.

I'm getting use to being a stay at home mom. I'm surprised at how much there is to do. I knew I would be busy, but I didn't know it was going to be this busy. I do love the busyness. I have a list of things I want to do and do my best to get it all done. I love to see progress with cleaning, playing the piano, books I'm reading, etc. Of course, the best part is watching Chloe grow. It is so exciting when I see her learning about her little body and what it can do. It makes me grateful for my own body and realize what process I must of gone through to get to where I am right now. Life is truly wonderful and there is so much to learn from it!

Chloe & Kailee

I told my nieces and nephews that they had to wait until July to hold Chloe. Kailee had asked several times to hold Chloe and was so excited when I told her she could.

Gas...I Don't Think So!

They say that if you see a baby smile before they are six weeks old that it is just gas, but I beg to differ. Chloe has been smiling and trying so hard to talk...it has been so fun and exciting to see her change.

The Last couple of weeks

The last couple of weeks have been pretty busy...My sister was married the last weekend in May-they are such a cute couple. I am so happy for them. :)

Chloe was blessed last Sunday, which was such a wonderful experience.

...AND Chloe turned one month old yesterday. I can't believe it! The last month has brought so much to my life. I am so grateful to be a mother and have Chloe in my life!

Teaching Primary

We have been teaching primary for the past 1 1/2 years and it really is so much fun! They're not always the most reverent and I can't say that it is always as easy as it sounds, but they are so cute and say the darnest things. This Sunday in sharing time they were talking about the hard work that mom and dads do in the home. They asked the primary kids what would happen if their mom decided not to cook, clean or take them to various activities. One of our kids in our class yelled out that "HE WOULD DIE!" I wonder if his mom knows how much he cares about what she does. Every week we come home with a smile on our face because of something one of our 7 year olds said.

Fun in the Kitchen

Well, definitely not fun...our upstairs neighbors did laundry which has never been a problem in the past, but the pipes got clogged and oh, the mess! We got home last Friday from work and there was water all over our kitchen floor. It had overflowed from our sink and made a detergent smelling pool of water. We mopped up about 20 gallons of water off our floor and have been working on bleaching everything in our kitchen...floor, kitchen utensils, kitchen rags, etc. Ironically, I am doing a presentation for my epidemiology class on cholera, which happens to be spread through eating food or drinking water that is contaminated with sewage...definitely, makes me motivated to be obsessed with making sure the kitchen has been completely disinfected!

Scott and I had a nice valentines day even though it didn't turn out way we had planned. We were going to take the front runner to SLC and watch a movie at the i-max theatre, go out to eat and just walk around. After eating a yummy breakfast (that I made:)) we got ready and left. However, we didn't get very far when we realized the roads were EXTREMELY icy. Scott would barely tap on the brakes and we'd slide. So, we decided to forget about going to SLC and play it by ear. A few hours later, after the sun had won it's way out through the clouds, we went to Wal-Mart (I know that sounds stupid) but we had fun picking out stupid little gifts for ourselves. I got pillow cases and a movie and Scott got wrenches and drill bits. It was great to have a day where we didn't feel like we had to be anywhere in particular and just enjoy hanging out with each other!
